Apple’s DMA Criticism Highlights Tech-Government Power Struggle
As much as I believe Apple makes good products that serve its users well, what’s best for Apple users (and thus Apple itself) isn’t always best—or even good—for everyone else.
Apple's Thoughts on the DMA
Some of Apple’s specific complaints above don’t make much sense to me. For example, with the Live Translation feature, are they against both using Live Translation with third-party earbuds and using third-party translation apps with AirPods?

When will macOS be updated in 2025-26?
This article looks at what’s in store for us over the coming year, as far as macOS is concerned.
These estimated dates for the 26 minor updates match my predictions, except for the March .4 release. This so-called "spring update" is usually beefier than then other minor updates. Its release date has been quite volatile historically, mostly because there were often hardware releases around the same time. My best estimate for the "spring release" is "sometime in March, possibly early April.

What goes into making an OS to be Unix compliant certified?
In last week's issue, I wondered why Apple still bothers about UNIX 03 certification. Someone pointed me to this Quora post (Thank you!) which explains why and how Apple sought and achieved certification in the first place.
Very much worth reading, but I still wonder why Apple bothered with macOS 26. They do not advertise out loud that it's Unix, any more, do they?
